Today went as planned, up at 5:30 am to throw the stuffing in the crock pot and then off to Detroit for the Turkey Trot! My husband finished with a personal record pace, you can read about it here. We got home around 10:30 and had a quick lunch which I followed by a quick shower and a quick nap. at 12:30, I turned on football and started cooking!

First, the stuffing was a bit too wet when it came out of the crock pot, so I put it in a dish and put it in the oven for 30 minutes to bake some and dry out. I put the turkey on the counter to get up to room temperature and sat down with a Bailey’s on the rocks. Then at 1:30, I started prepping the turkey which went into the oven just about 2:00pm. The rest of the dishes were put together over the next few hours and went into the oven when the turkey was done around 4:30. Dinner was served at 5:15 and consumed alongside a well deserved glass of wine.

The Menu in Review:

Roast turkey – Delicious, moist and flavorful
Stuffing – A bit bitter, I blame the cranberries and will omit them next year
Sweet potato bake – Amazing
Mashed potatoes – As good as expected, don’t forget the sea salt
Green Bean Caserole – Very good and worth the extra effort for fresh green beans
Rolls – DELICIOUS!
Dessert – To be consumed
